Surprised my beautiful bride with a romantic getaway to this adorable Vintage Tiny House in the Hill Country. It has a rustic, country barnhouse theme with sliding barn doors for the bathroom and master bedroom.

There is also a cute little loft upstairs. They thought of every detail to add vintage charm including distressed wood, stained glass windows and even all of the lights bulbs are those vintage bulbs.

Needless to say, Christi is in love with the place and now I have to find a way to talk her out of getting one for herself.

Tina Maldonado Gonzalez Love it!! How many total square feet is it?

Stewart Oswald 384 sq ft plus the 70 sq ft loft.

Own the Vintage Retreat Today!

The Vintage Retreat Tiny House combines whimsical with minimalism to create a romantic design. The farmhouse inspiration was handcrafted by Hill Country Tiny Houses and voted “Best in show” at the National Tiny House Jamboree 2017. It was also in the top 10 most popular tiny houses on Instagram in 2017.

Todd and Shari Snyder built it for their own family of three. It’s proven to be a well-loved favorite for clients everywhere.  They love the abundance of natural light combined with the color palette that contrasts white ship lap with barn wood throughout.  The well thought out floor plan provides efficiency and everything you need at your fingertips without any wasted space.  The design details of unique shelving, stained glass windows, and barn doors, adds to its charm and warm feeling.  People often comment about the peace they feel immediately upon stepping inside and how they never want to leave. It’s a perfect blend of functionality and beauty families will thrive in for years to come.

Own your dream tiny home and save $18,000 today!!!

We’re selling the Vintage Retreat! We’ve decided to sell our beloved tiny home and move into our HGTV tiny house, The Bohemian Bungalow. You, our beloved readers, have first chance to own this dream tiny home at a discounted price.  Next week, we will share it with the public.

If you’d like more details and pictures go to: https://mailchi.mp/hillcountrytinyhouses.com/vintageretreatsale to view all the details on this tiny house including photos and video reviews of it.
Investors: This is a turn-key AirBnb option that can be placed on your property or you could purchase a lot within Tiny Town to place it on and rent it out. We averaged $160/day for the 29 days we had this unit for rent on AirBnb, it’s a great investment!

We want to do some traveling with Andrew before we settle down in the community. The goose neck travels much easier hauling all that weight.  We can even take it on the sandy beach, sleeping by the ocean in Port Aransas or maybe Big Bend National Park.

The tiny house we are designing now is 600-700 sq ft, a 2 bedroom park model without wheels. We will live in this one in our tiny house community and at that time, put the Boho on airbnb in Tiny Town. We wanted to share this news with you before we share it with the rest of the world!

The Vintage Retreat boasts a robust 384 sq fit with an additional 70 sq ft loft for a total of 454 sq ft with 2 slide outs. We are selling it fully furnished with 2 Queen mattresses, murphy bed, a folding dining table and chairs, reclining love seat and chair, appliances (including the washer & dryer), as well as our rolling butcher block island and barstools.

This home has served our family of 3 well over the past year and a half; we’ve made many memories we’ll treasure in our hearts forever. We’ve parked it in 4 different RV parks in 4 different cities in 18 months and hosted more out-of-state guests than we ever did in our 5 bedroom home. Living tiny is still a novelty that attracts the curious, and we love it! In 2017, Instagram named The Vintage Retreat in “the top 10 most popular tiny houses of the year.”

In the same year, it was voted in the top 3 best tiny homes at the Tiny House Jamboree. Needless to say, this tiny home has had its fair share of fame in its short but exciting lifetime.

Built on a custom made 40 ft trailer with 2 fold down decks, 2 steel built slide outs, a set of french doors in the main living space, and sliding glass door off the master bedroom. Inside, you’ll find a full-size jetted tub/shower combo, a 48″ antique vanity with a marble counter top, a standard-flush toilet, and a large built-in closet complete with built-in drawers.

We have dropped the retail price by $18,000 and are selling this home fully furnished with decor (minus personal items). Todd will deliver this home directly to your door and teach you how to set it up or pack it up for travel. He’ll deliver it anywhere within a 200 mile radius of San Antonio, Texas. At this time, we are only offering this home to someone local. He can also place metal skirting around the whole tiny home and add eaves on site for an extra fee. Because this tiny home has slide-outs it can be parked in a campground (most RV parks will allow you to park it there) or you can use it as a guest house, vacation rental, or full-time dwelling on your own land.

What is a pocket neighborhood?

This describes our model for Tiny Town Wellness Villages: “A pocket neighborhood is a type of planned community that consists of a grouping of smaller residences, often around a courtyard or common garden, designed to promote a close knit sense of community and neighborliness with an increased level of contact.

Considerations include reducing or segregating parking and roadways, the use of shared communal areas that promote social activities, and homes with smaller square footage built in close proximity to one another. Features in the smaller homes are designed to maximize space and can use built in shelves and porch areas, encouraging time spent outside with a focal point around a green space.”

I ask, “Who wouldn’t want to live in a community like this?”

What is a Social Entrepreneur?

A social entrepreneur is “society’s change agents, creators of innovations that disrupt the status quo and transform our world.” It’s also identified as “individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems” who “find what is not working and solve the problem by changing the system, spreading the solution, and persuading entire societies to move in different directions.”

Tom’s shoe company is a great example of this. Did you know if you buy a pair of Tom’s shoes, they donate one to a person in need, usually in a third world country. We are adopting this model inside Tiny Town Texas by creating affordable housing communities as well as separate transitional housing communities for the homeless. Our business model is “buy one, give one”. More to come…

HCTC Connection Magazine

Can you imagine my surprise when I picked up this magazine?  Is it okay to say I was slightly embarrassed?  Never did I dream they would put a life size photo of “just me” ON THE COVER?  I did however have fun teasing my husband that now he can say his wife was on the cover of a magazine. Ego aside, we will always welcome free publicity!

I thought they were coming to shoot my two tiny houses so I spent most of my time on that and ran out of time for myself 🙁
The magazine team worked really hard on it and we loved meeting the photographer, Melissa, from Alabama last August and the author, John Clayton.

Hill Country Tiny Houses

HGTV Tiny Paradise, Aug 17, 9pm/8 c. Season 2, Episode 5

Boerne, TX –  – Hill Country Tiny Houses, a company specializing in custom-built tiny homes, announced today that they will be featured on HGTV’s Tiny Paradise on August 17, 2018. The episode was filmed throughout the month of April as well as a few days in May on Red Sands ranch out in Mason, TX and will feature Todd and Shari Snyder as well as their 12-year-old son as they built and designed ‘The Bohemian Bungalow.’

Shari Snyder, Hill Country Tiny Houses’ CEO and designer stated, “while there were numerous challenges that had to be overcome during the filming of the show, we persevered and were able to meet all of our deadlines, turning out a truly masterful product in record time.” The tiny house has since been on its maiden voyage to an expo in Schaumburg, IL, just outside of Chicago where everyone was impressed with the craftsmanship as well as the innovative maximization of space through the use of slide-outs. Hill Country Tiny Houses is one of the first companies in the U.S. to implement the use of slide-outs in the design and people are noticing.

Filming and building ‘The Bohemian Bungalow’ on Red Sands Ranch in Mason, TX was very difficult due to the remote location. An hour and a half from the nearest Home Depot and nearly an hour from the Snyder’s own tiny home in Fredricksburg, TX, it required careful and precise planning when it came to purchasing and delivering supplies. However, despite such complications, the Snyder’s were able to complete the project in the month they were allotted for the build as well as filming several family outings. It is remarkable how well Todd and Shari interacted on camera and how well they adapted to such an environment.

The episode will include several family activities including antique shopping, driving around the ranch and fishing as well as beautiful shots of the location, set in front of red bluffs on the river. In addition, the episode will give the viewer an inside look at how a tiny house is built and the design process required.

A resourceful couple have created their very own home on wheels in the form of a 40ft custom-made trailer.

Todd and Shari Snyder, from Hill Country, Texas, ditched their spacious conventional house for the stunning compact home they can take anywhere.

The luxurious family home has two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, a bathroom and 384 sq ft of living space – and it’s proved so popular, they are now selling identical models for just $98,000 (£73,000).

The kitchen boasts a full-size fridge-freezer, a Belfast sink, hob, oven and dishwasher with a small table and two stools that roll out from under the counter.

The Snyders made space for a 55in TV in the living room and a 32in TV in the bedroom and is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the bathroom along with a full-size jet-spa bath.

The couple can increase their space with sliding doors between the bathroom and bedroom and Andrew has his own room in the loft space.

All the mod-cons! The kitchen has a full-size fridge-freezer, a Belfast sink, hob, oven and dishwasher with a small table and two stools that roll out from under the counter

Spacious! The couple also built in two 9ft wide by 4ft recess areas which house the sofa and bed which can be tucked away when not in use to give extra floor space

Compact: The couple can increase their space with sliding doors between the bathroom and bedroom and Andrew has his own room in the loft space

Shari said: ‘I had been searching for a business my husband and I could do together that would utilise both our strengths when I came across the tiny house movement.

‘I realised that the best builders and designers of tiny houses are those that live in them and I wanted to be the best so we dove in head first and put our dream home on the market.

‘I designed every square inch of the place to be livable for three people. I thought of all the little details like where would the bin go, and dirty clothes – everything is so functional and yet beautiful.

‘I wanted all the luxury and appliances so I was not missing any of the creature comforts.

‘We probably downsized all our belongings by about 50 per cent but I probably should have got rid of more.

Speaking about how compact living has changed their lifestyle, the couple revealed: ‘You just have to adjust your lifestyle, it makes you do chores straight away instead of putting them off’

Meticulous planning: ‘We made it as big as we could because we run two businesses from home and home-school our son so we needed all the space we could get,’ the couple said

Spreading the word: ‘We’re now on a mission to get other people interested in it,’ said the couple. ‘We’ve seen how it strengthens families and eliminates debt and allows you the time freedom to invest in the things that really matter in life’

‘But we made it as big as we could because we run two businesses from home and home-school our son so we needed all the space we could get.’

Creative input: When it came to the interiors, Shari, 45, took over with the interior design, making sure she had space to fit in everything she needed and the home was livable for three people

Getting off the ground: ‘It takes a long time to pack it all up with the decks and the slide-outs,’ says Shari. ‘Moving from one park site to another across town, packing up and setting it all out again takes about four hours’

‘It’s not really designed as a travelling trailer but it’s a trailer that can travel,’ the couple admitted. ‘We’ve moved it a couple of times, the longest trip we have taken is about 300 miles.

Ambitious: The project took five months with Todd, 49, who has been building and renovating houses for 15 years, custom-making the trailer from scratch and building their home with the couple’s son Andrew, 12, this summer.

Ongoing project: The couple have called it the Vintage Retreat and are now making similar models for other families through their new company, Hill Country Tiny Houses

Cheaper than a house! The homes cost $98,000 (£73,000) and buyers will need a one-tonne truck if they want to take it on the road. A a smaller model for a single person starts from $68,000 (£50,000)

‘You just have to adjust your lifestyle, it makes you do chores straight away instead of putting them off.

‘It has paid off though, we went to a show in Texas where we were up against 50 other builders from around the US and we were voted best in show.

‘We are the only company that have slide-outs on a tiny house.

‘We’re now on a mission to get other people interested in it. We’ve seen how it strengthens families and eliminates debt and allows you the time freedom to invest in the things that really matter in life.’
