I know how it feels to be stuck.

Hey sweet friends.

Well. I talked to a few peeps lately and there’s this overshadow of situational depression. So many people are feeling burdened, overwhelmed and just so sad.

I don’t know if it’s the last two years, the fact that everyone has Christmas up already trying to bring in some cheer and it’s not happening. Plastic holly won’t make you jolly. It could be suppressed stress and it’s been just simmering and it’s an underlying cause to your discomfort.
Situational depression is a real thing.
Another real thing is Seasonal Affective Disorder aka (SAD).
And then real depression/anxiety.

It’s okay to not be okay.
But, it’s not okay to suffer in silence.
Can I be your good friend and let you know that if the awareness seems heavier and heavier – get some help.
Talk to someone before you get overwhelmed and frozen with fear.
Talking processes emotions. ?????

Your passions in life are there as a promise to you. When you do the things that bring you peace and joy, it’s a parachute. It lets you escape the moments and mundane of life that can bring in overwhelm and even worse…apathy. Start doing what you love and see if the clouds lift. Maybe, even do what you love and give that item/hobby/creation/gesture to someone because contribution creates an internal feeling unlike no other. ??

There is a perversion floating around in culture, driven by religion, that suggests that unity is a setting aside of our convictions, a compromise, in order to come to a place of agreement.

I’ll tell you from experience that it doesn’t work. A watering down of what you really believe won’t be able to put out the fire that burns within you anyways. What you have heard from God won’t go away despite how much we ignore it or bury it under the fear of man.

Unity isn’t dictated by agreement. A married couple are in unity and I promise you, they are not in agreement about many things.

Unity isn’t compromising your convictions in order to meet someone halfway in order to get the dangling carrot of “unity”. Most people think that unity takes sacrifice. Not so.

Unity is a thing of the spirit. Unity happens effortlessly when we arrive at truth. Unity isn’t earned, it is given. Unity isn’t merely agreement, which is of the mind. Unity is deeper, harder to tack down, flowing from the unseen. Unity happens when we are both standing before Jesus.

Unity is that feeling you get when you just met someone and feel like you have known them for your whole life. Unity is a thing where despite color of skin or denomination or stature, you would take a bullet for this person. Unity cannot be achieved. It is discovered. Unity is when you love someone so much that you care very little about how much you agree, in fact now that you think of it, there are probably tons of areas you disagree with them about but that is of little concern to you because you delight in them so much. Unity is a realizing that we are the same while being vastly different, and those differences are not points of contention but varieties to be enjoyed.

Many of us are unifying right now. Many of us are waiting on the edge of the Promised Land for others to arrive at this same place of truth. We must focus on recognizing who the real enemy is. The real enemy is not one another but the giants in the land.

Lets unify and wipe them out.

Parents often wonder whether their children are getting the educations they need to be successful. That’s precisely why parents across the nation should feel empowered to have their voices heard. 

Unfortunately, when parents do voice their opinion at school board meetings their concerns are too often ignored. You don’t need to look much further than YouTube to find countless examples.  

But that’s not keeping parents from elevating their concerns. 

Parents around the country are feeling discouraged by the state of our education system. 

Take Florida mom Quisha King, for example. Her impassioned comments during a school board meeting calling for a “mass exodus” from public schools went viral: 

“Standing up to these people doesn’t seem to matter,” she said. “I mean, we have – all of us – we’ve been at these school board meetings, we’ve been voicing our opinions, we’re writing articles, we’re emailing teachers – we’re doing all that stuff. And they don’t care.” 

Even the Biden administration’s Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will not say that parents are the primary stakeholders of their children’s education. Let us be clear — parents ARE the primary stakeholder. No one knows what is best for their children better than they do and that is why parents belong in the driver’s seat of their children’s education.
