2018: A glance in the rearview mirror

I have not had one person tell me it was the best year of their life, have you?
We are no exception. However, we are incredibly grateful for the hi-lights.

  • Of course, filming with the HGTV crew was surreal!
  • Building the Boho in that paradise location was amazing! Many thanks to our friend, John  Gilbert, owner of Red Sands Ranch, for letting us build and film on the Llano River there. You can rent your own piece of heaven at https://www.vrbo.com/423176
  • Our 5,000 mile tiny house trip with 5,000 memories this summer for Chicago’s Tiny House show and our vacation with family in Michigan.  (By the way, the best way to visit family is to bring your own house so you have your own space)
  • Austin’s Tiny House Jamboree show (it was again surreal to have so many people come tour it who had just watched it on HGTV the week before.  They were all so kind)

Can I be RAW and REAL for a hot minute?

  • Todd and I went through betrayal after betrayal with trusted friends who were a drain to us emotionally, energetically and financially. It felt like some were jealous of our success, trying to destroy our company.
  • We have battled depression and oppression and went quiet the last part of the year.  We both gained some weight and felt some really dark days and sleepless nights from the stress.  We held on to a quote a new friend taught us last summer:  “Trust God for all”. We will protect the reputations of these individuals and we will overcome evil with good. They cannot win!
  • Conversely, there were so many people who showed up and showered us with incredible kindness. It’s a long long list and we are so incredibly grateful.
  • For every one person (there were five in all) who tried to harm us, God raised up two if not three others to come alongside and help us.
  • Every trial was outweighed with a greater blessing

Mailed mystery letters of blessing

  • We have the absolute BEST clients we could imagine and each one keeps us going, to be a small part of making their big dreams come true!
  • This January, we have been rebuilding our faith, our confidence, and renewing our vision for 2019.  We chose to give each of these people a Grace Card: a lifetime pass of forgiveness and love no matter what they do in the future and no matter what they have done in the past because WE REFUSE TO GIVE UP OUR POWER!
  • One of the key things we did based on advice from the brilliant Graham Cooke, was to write a letter of blessing to some of the offenders as a prophetic letter from the Lord (this was not in our hand writing and was mailed by a friend mail from a different state).
In the words of Warren Buffet, “You will continue to suffer if you have an emotional reaction to everything that is said to you. True power is sitting back and observing things with logic.  True power is restraint.  If words control you that means everyone else can control you.  Breathe and allow things to pass.”

YOU TUBE VIDEO TOUR HAS 150,000 views

In December, our friend, Chris Penn, from Alaska, came to visit and do a video tour of our new tiny house. We met Chris at a Jamboree in 2017 where he did a video tour of our vintage retreat.  He drove his skoolie and we had a great time.  His channel has 250,000 subscribers and our video has 150,000 views the first 3 weeks.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY0rsm56IKo
